James C. "Jim" Cross

James C. Cross of Whitefield, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, with his loved ones by his side. Jim was born on March 16, 1945, in Lancaster, NH. He was the youngest child of Frederick W. Cross and Gaynelle Jolbert.

Jim was the husband of Diane F. Vincent for 51 years. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1963 and served as a member of the United States Navy Seabees and did a tour in Vietnam. He received his associate degree from New Hampshire College, and he worked as a systems programmer for New Hampshire Insurance Company, Centronics, eventually retiring from New Hampshire College now known as Southern New Hampshire University.

He loved watching and coaching his sons in baseball. He was a dedicated member of the Whitefield Lions club and served on the Whitefield Bi-Centennial committee. Jim was an avid card player and enjoyed playing chess, especially with his brother Norman. He enjoyed coming to Burns Lake in the summer before moving permanently to the lake in 2001. He was an excellent cook, having learned from his uncle at the Eastern Slope Inn.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and his brother, William. Survivors include his wife, Diane; his son, Frederick and wife, Lisa, his son, David and wife, Jill, all living in Dunbarton, NH. His four grandchildren: Katharine, Alexander, Jonathan, and Zachary; brother, Norman of Whitefield and sister, Shelby of New York; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.

Jim will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. A celebration of life will be Saturday January 4th from 12:30PM to 3:30PM at the Inn at Whitefield, Whitefield, NH.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the Whitefield Lions Club.
