James Cross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Medina Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Dec. 31, 2025.
James "Jimmy" Cross, age 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born on January 19, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Gordon and Wanda Cross. Jimmy graduated from Beech Bluff High School and devoted thirty-six years of his life to his work as a service technician with JEA. He loved the outdoors, watching westerns, and, most of all, spending time with his family. Jimmy joined Woodland Baptist Church in 1976, where he faithfully served. His love for the Lord was deep and unwavering, and his faith guided every part of his life. Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, and family man who lived each day as a witness for Christ. Even through hardship, he never lost sight of his purpose, often saying, "If one person was saved because of my pain and suffering, it was worth it." He shared the gospel whenever he could and sought to glorify God in all he did. Jimmy's life was one of faith, love, and service, and his journey was finished well.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Cross.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Sandra Cross of Jackson; son, Brooks Cross (Cindy) of Jackson; daughter, Jennifer Manley (Scott) of Jackson; three brothers, Richard Cross (Vivian) of Covington, Stanley Cross of Jackson and David Cross of Mercer; and sister, Patricia Bonds (Bill) of Franklin. Jimmy is also survived by four grandchildren, Payton Cross (Kaylee), Madison Bland (Daniel), Camryn Manley and Landon Cross; two great grandchildren, Waylon Bland and Hattie Cross; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."- 2 Timothy 4:7
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in the chapel of Medina Funeral Home with Bro. Maurice Hayes and Bro. Charles Pratt officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour on Saturday in the chapel.
