Knew Jim well. Played on high school basketball teams with him. I am happy to know he had a rich and full life.

He was a quiet role-model in my life, although he never knew it. My mother told me stories of Uncle Jim from early childhood that sparked my interest in other cultures and inspired my desire to serve. My path veered off of the original destination of Asia, but it lead to meaningful experiences in Latin America and to studying Mandarin and Arabic at BYU and in the military. I´ve always admired Uncle Jim´s work ethic, his church service, his intellect, and his spirit of adventure. And he raised some fine children. That´s a very good legacy.
