Daly, James Scott
SARATOGA SPRINGS - James Scott Daly, Esq., 66, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Saratoga Springs. James was born on July 30, 1959, in Schenectady, N.Y., and was the son of the late Charles W. Daly Esq. and Mary Elizabeth (Peters) Daly.
James grew up in Niskayuna, playing soccer and volleyball in high school and college. He spent his summers at the family's camp on Galway Lake and driving around in his Triumph Spitfire. His love for fun and quality time with his family was immeasurable, he enjoyed traveling, dining out, guns, fishing, and boating.
From a young age James knew he wanted to be an attorney like his dad, and brother, Bob. He worked hard and attended Union College, where he studied political science and joined Sigma Phi. He went on to Albany Law School, passing the Bar exam on the first try. An amazing accomplishment, considered he was working as a patrolman for the Saratoga Springs Police department and battling Hodgkin's lymphoma. James had wanted to join the FBI but decided to practice law with his father at Wemple and Daly Attorneys, and he practiced until his dying day.
Along with his passion for law, James was a passionate lake man. From sailing his Hobie Cat on Galway Lake, to powerboating on the Great Sacandaga, he was never far from the water. There was no place that he would rather be than the Mayfield Yacht Club. He was a member for 45 years, he served on the board and many committees, did a yearly omelet breakfast, and he and Jennifer received the Chatterton award for service to the club.
James is survived by his wife, Jennifer A. (Gaylord) Daly; his sons, Jared and Ian Daly; and his siblings, Robert (Emiley) Daly and Nancy Camden; as well as his nieces and nephew.
