It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Sunderland Davis. After a wonderful and full life, Jim went in peace on February 16th at age 97.
Jim was born in Indianapolis, IN and raised his family in Pittsford NY. He and his loving wife, Jean shared over 71 years of marriage. Together they raised four children and enjoyed much of their time at Locust Hill Country Club, and later as life evolved, winters in Delray Beach, Florida, and summers in Canandaigua, NY, making many cherished memories along the way. Jim was a proud army veteran. He was also a graduate and passionate supporter of Miami of Ohio University. A long-time vintage car enthusiast, he shared this love and hobby with Jimmy, his garage buddy and eldest son. Jim was also a huge fan of turkey dinners and his St. Louis Cardinals.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Beryl Davis, along with his brother, Charles Davis. He is survived by his wife, Jean Davis, children, Jim (Lynn) Davis, Cindy Davis, Jeff (Patty) Davis, and Andy (Becky) Davis. He leaves grandchildren, AJ (Oliva) Davis, Kevin Lingg, Ally Lingg, Michael Bollin, Stephen (Brittany) Bollin, Jamie Davis, Jackie (Andy) Centauro, and Julie (Ryan) Byrne, as well as his many beloved great grandchildren. Jim also had many great friends including those in Florida, the Rochester area, and next door.
A celebration of life will be shared in the spring.

My memories of my Grandpa Jim, even from when I was 5 years old, are quite consistent. Any time I would see him he always carried a certain amount of joy and personability; he could talk with almost anyone and get a laugh or make someone feel comfortable. He loved talking sports, and this is what we would connect on most. One would talk to him and see contentment, peace and joy in his big blue eyes, and one would feel they are in the presence of someone who loves to smile and laugh. Thank you Grandpa for all the love and support, all the great thanksgivings and Christmases, the summer boat rides, the fun dinners, the drinks, the laughs, the sports talks, and all the love. I love you and your presence is missed.
