Dear Mrs. DeLong,
I did not know your husband, but I believe you were one of my Sunday school teachers many years ago at St. Mark's Lutheran, Birdsboro, either in the Primary or Intermediate Dept. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss.

I don't know James, as I have never met him. I just stumbled across his obituary. I'm glad I did. This man led a remarkable life, focusing on the freedom of our country and the love he had for his family. Rest well, James. You've made a difference in this world, and I'm positive your legacy will live on.

As combat brothers and defenders of our nation;
We salute our comrade who, as we have,
sacrificed much more than many can understand
to keep this nation a free nation. It is he who fought
and paid a price which so many have not done.
We of the Military Order of the Purple Heart
offer our deepest sympathy to you,
the family of our fallen comrade.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you
at this time of sorrow.
He will no longer have to suffer the wounds
of battle or of life . For he has now
found peace with his God.
In remembrance of our fallen Patriot,
Officers and Members:
Department of Pennsylvania
Military Order of the Purple Heart

Although we lost touch after I left PA & moved to Key West, I thought of you & Aunt Audrey, Renee & Bruce often. I love you Uncle Jim & I'm heartbroken over your passing. I'm gonna miss you but thankfully, I have so many wonderful childhood memories to look back on & hold dear to my heart. My thoughts & prayers are with Aunt Audrey, Bruce, Renee & their families during this time of sorrow. Rest in Peace Uncle Jim
