James Devore Obituary
James "Jim" Carroll Devore, 84, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side. Jim was born August 20, 1939 in Marshallville, Ohio to the parents of Richard Carroll and Anna Eileen (Ault) Devore.
Jim married Jo Ann (Norris) on April 7, 1962. Jim is survived by his wife, Jo; children David (Michele Matteson) Devore of Ohio and Barbara (Bill Bradley) of Indiana; three grandchildren, Matt (Cilla) Tuckson, Victoria Devore (Andrew Liggett) and Beth Tuckson; grandchild in law, Molly Devore. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna (Eugene) Lowe and grandson, David J. Devore.
He was a 1958 graduate of Northwestern High School and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving at the time in the Cuban Crisis. His life included farming and trucking. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His retirement years were spent RVing throughout the United States, working in the theaters in Branson, MO and keeping busy as a handyman.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home. Graveside family service will be Friday, April 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Salem Cemetery with Chaplin Phil Klinefelter officiating where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Post 499 of West Salem.
