James proudly served his county in the U.S. Army and the Reserves, earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.
He always had time for his grandchildren. He was a dear soul who didn’t forget people and would send those not living close by pictures of his grandchildren who he adored. James loved life, always had a smile, usually had a hat and a t-shirt with an irreverent message. During his retirement, James enjoyed driving cross country to visit family and friends and always finding a “unique” attraction to stop at along the way. He was a beloved fixture and part of the community in many bars across Long Island NY, Pittsburgh PA, and Albany CA. He loved people and laughing, music, history, and trivia. In a minute he could jump into song lyrics or quote something to put a smile like his on others faces. His greatest joy was banter and conversation with friends and family.
He will be remembered as a caring happy man who adored his family and friends and was always doing for others.
In honor of James, please wear your favorite hat and most joyful clothes to the celebration of life at the Irish Times at 12 pm on Saturday
