When I was attending in college in Edinboro, Dr. Drane was my professor and employer. He was writing a book on the counter culture and I proof read it as well as typed numerous articles for him. He would come to my apartment with a handwritten manuscript which I would type for him. While there he would visit with my roommates and we engaged in some meaningful discussions with him. He was a big influence in my life and I continue to remember our life discussions.

We never knew either his name or background. He was simply the smiling, friendly man who sat in front of us at Our Lady of the Lake and always greeted us and our children and grandchildren.
He is surely missed by us all. We are sure is still smiling at us from Heaven.
Love and prayers,
The extended Sawyer family

From the 1970s when my mom did typing for him, to being at my wedding, to delivering my dad's eulogy, to helping/working with him in the library, to talking with him about God, philosophy, and more...Jim has been a big part of my and my family's life for more than 50 years and will be greatly missed.

Jim was a wonderful man whose smile lit up the world. With a twinkle in his eyes, and a fatherly hug, he always made me feel special. You will be missed. My condolences to the family. May Jim rest in eternal peace Kiran Misra

I met this incredible man, who I called Uncle Jim, the day I was adopted. I was 5, and Uncle Jim and his wife at the time, Sissy, showed up at our house with a vehicle full of clothes and toys for us. They also brought a young crabapple tree, which is still planted out in front of the house. We would spend Christmas eve at their house and the lovely memories have lasted. Hen I attended Edinboro University, Uncle Jim would make time to come see me and I loved going to his office and just chatting with him. This is a very sad loss. So much love to his family and loved ones! He was quite a special man

My friendship with Jim dates back more than 50 years as a personal friend of the Griffen kids and an undergraduate philosophy student at ESC as it was known then . Jim was a role model and inspiration. We would greet each other on campus with a hug. Being in his presence was enlightening and I will miss him.

Author of A GOOD DOCTOR you were indeed a GOOD MAN. I admired you immensely: your intellect, your humanity, your beliefs. You were father to so many, always there in times of need. Always. Bob

Our University and community has lost a Great man. So very intelligent and kind, always a friendly smile and polite word, plus willing to spend time with you no matter what the situation might be. Always willing to purchase a raffle ticket for Boro sporting events and not shy having a piece of hard candy that I would offer. You will be missed at our athletic events and naturally at other University functions. May you find peace and memory eternal. Paul M. Belosh

Dear Family of Dr James Drane,
Dr. Drane was a friend of my late Father, Dr. James F Walker. I do not know how their paths crossed but my Father always spoke so highly
Of him. I met him a few times and could see why my Father always spoke so highly.
Please accept my deepest sympathy,
Mary Christine Walker (Erie)
