James Monroe Duncan, 81, passed away on April 3, 2025. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jim lived a life defined by hard work, perseverance, and a deep love for his family and land.
Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Jim attended Hume-Fogg Magnet High School before pursuing his passion for mechanics. He became a master mechanic, spending 25 years at Waller Buick, where he earned a reputation for his skill and dedication.
In 1979, Jim made one of his proudest decisions—purchasing the beautiful 156-acre Deer Lake Farm in McEwen, TN, with his then-wife, Cindy Duncan. The farm became his lifelong home, a place where he raised his children and created lasting memories. Two of his children were even born in the 100-year-old farmhouse. Despite encouragement to move in later years, Jim held onto the farm, determined to keep it for his family.
Jim found joy in the simple things—piddling in his garage, working on carbureted cars, and watching NASCAR and drag racing. He had a special love for Western movies and was always happiest sharing his land with friends and family, whether for deer hunting or fishing in the artesian spring-fed lake.
