WASHINGTON – James Olen Dupre passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 79. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, officiated by Father James Brady.
James was born on October 24, 1944, in Opelousas, LA to Joseph Doris Dupre and Rosetta Sylvester Dupre. His proudest accomplishments included his years of selfless work as a Kenner Police Officer, where he touched the lives of many with his compassion and unwavering commitment to justice. As a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, he embodied the values of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism in all aspects of his life.
He was also a devoted Perpetually Professed member of the Holy Family Institute, where he found solace in his faith and shared his kindness with others. His strong belief in family values and his commitment to helping those in need made him a shining example of compassion and generosity.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Daisy Dupre, of 57 years; his daughter, Jessica Maria Dupre; his granddaughter, Daniela Francis Dupre; his sister, Brenda Dupre Lafleur (Daniel) and brother, Paul Druet Dupre.
James is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Charles Yves Dupre and Joseph Warren Dupre.
At the family’s request, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of service.
James’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, CNA’s, and respiratory therapists who provided excellent care for him during his last days.
