James Easterling Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.
James Carl Easterling, 77, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 15,

2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Carl was born on December 23, 1948, in

Clanton, Alabama, to Velma Moates Easterling and Julius Daniel Easterling.

Carl was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose life was

defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for his family. For 53 years, he shared a

strong and enduring marriage with his beloved wife, Pam Easterling. Together they built

a life rooted in commitment, faith, and family. Carl was a dedicated father to his

daughter, Carla, and his son, Michael, always leading by example through his quiet

strength, integrity, and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma Moates Easterling and Julius Daniel

Easterling, and his siblings, Dean Peters, Faye Haynes, Pam Battles, Edna Lawton,

Rusty Easterling, and Junior Easterling.

Carl was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He spent over 20 years

working as a mechanic at Royal Oldsmobile, where his skill, reliability, and pride in his

work earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. No matter how hard he

worked, he always made time for the people who mattered most.

Though Carl never sought the spotlight and preferred a quiet life, he leaves behind a

legacy worthy of recognition. He was a man of honor, loyalty, and integrity. His kindness

and generosity were felt by everyone who knew him. If Carl knew you, he cared about

you. He was the kind of man who would lend a helping hand without hesitation and give

the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Carl found joy in the simple things in life. He loved spending time fishing, tending to his

garden, and listening to music. These quiet moments brought him peace, but nothing

brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his family. Of all his

accomplishments, the role he cherished most was being a husband, father, and

grandfather.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Pam Easterling; his children, Carla Atchison (Mike)

and Michael Easterling (Shanda); his cherished grandchildren, Emma Atchison, Reese

Easterling, Liam Easterling, and Kinnley Pennington; and his great-granddaughter,

Laynie Pennington. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear

friends who will miss him greatly.

While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Carl's legacy lives

on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the many memories that

will forever remain in our hearts.

Viewing will be held on, March 19, 2026, from 12 – 1 PM at McCalla Funeral Home.

Graveside service to follow at Macedonia Cemetery with Pastor, Scott Edwards

presiding.
