Died December 31, 2025
NORTHPORT - James David Eggert, 69, of Northport, passed away on December 31, 2025 at home. Jim was born on January 20, 1956, to Gerald Edwin and Jean Marie Eggert, their first born son.
Jim Eggert was a bright and curious kid, devouring books, and an advanced woodworker. He enjoyed his drum set his whole life. Jim is a graduate of Suttons Bay High School, who went on to graduate from Michigan Tech University, Houghton, Michigan, with an engineering degree.
After college he moved to Seattle, Washington to work for an aerospace company. He enjoyed his outdoor adventures, hiking, canoeing, even camping on Mt. Rainier.
Jim returned to his beloved Leelanau in 1987 to become a land surveyor. After retirement he worked at Northport Building Supply.
Jim is survived by his siblings Timothy (Kathleen) Eggert, Pam Detweiler and John(Sarah) Eggert, six nieces and nephews Kystal(Scott) Abbott, Tracey Eggert, Stacia Erlandson, Shane (Morgan) Detweiler, Q Eggert and Christine Eggert, four great nieces and nephews, Kayden and Kenzie Erlandson and Logan and Molly Detweiler.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Gregory Detweiler, nephews Henry Eggert and Kamden Erlandson.
The family would like to thank Denver Harter for his care and support of Jim.
Celebration of life will be held in the spring at the Eggert farm.
Memorials may be made to the wonderful EMS team of Leelanau Township Fire Department PO Box 338 Northport, MI 49670.
