James Egizio Obituary

Visit the Connell Funeral Home, Inc. website to view the full obituary.

James "Jim" Egizio, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 28, 1936, in Catasaqua, Pennsylvania, Jim lived a life rooted in faith, loyalty, and devotion to the people he loved.

Jim was a standout athlete at Allentown Central Catholic High School, where he played both baseball and basketball at an all-star level. He went on to graduate from Villanova University, forever carrying his love of college sports with him. His passion for the game led him to a long and respected career as a football referee-beginning in Pop Warner and steadily rising to collegiate officiating. He was known for his fairness, steady leadership, and deep respect for the sport and its players.

When not on the field, Jim worked tirelessly for the family business, A-Treat Bottling Company, where he served as a dedicated sales manager. His work ethic was quiet but unwavering, and he took pride in representing a company that became part of so many local family memories.

Jim was a loyal supporter of Lehigh University athletics and found joy in taking long walks on campus with his beloved wife, Lorraine (Renaldo) Egizio. These walks reflected the steady companionship, humor, and deep affection they shared throughout their life together.

Above all, family was the heart of Jim's world. He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; his children Lisa Clayton, Christina Bruckner, and James Egizio Jr.; his sons-in-law Kevin Clayton and Andrew Bruckner; his cherished grandchildren Jessica Hess and her husband, Brian, Patrick Clayton, Grace Clayton, Ali Bruckner, and Mia Bruckner; and his treasured great-granddaughters Georgia, Macailagh, and Maeve Hess.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 a.m. Saint James Parish, 184 S. Finley Ave. Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Jim by sharing a soda with someone you love, cheering on your favorite team, or taking a walk together-just as he so often did.
