James H. Ellis Jr. born August 18, 1944, peacefully passed away on March 17, 2025 surrounded by his family. The family is deeply saddened by his passing at 80 years of age. James and Barbara recently moved to
Holts Summit, MO. with his family, due to his failing health. James and his wife resided in Augusta, Georgia for over 40 years.

James is survived and missed by his loving wife Barbara A. Ellis of 61 years, his children Kenneth Ellis, wife Kassie and Christopher Ellis, wife Ingrid. Forever cherished and remembered by his five grandchildren Amber Boeckman & Heather Hart, Bethany Vasher & Preston Ellis, and Kristina Howarth. Four great grandchildren, Killian, Shep, Evelyne, and Lyon. Brother Mike Ellis, wife Mary.

His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews: Johnny, Pam, Michelle, Ronnie, Robby, Dennis, Michael. On his wife's side: Stacey, Rich, Wayne, Brandon, Craig & Steve.

James was predeceased by his father, James H. Ellis Sr., his mother, Else Mae Ellis, his brothers Tommy Ellis and Ronald Ellis. He was also predeceased by his mother-in-law Lila D. Hinson, brothers-in-law Dylan Hinson and Jerry Hinson, sisters-in-law Anne Ellis and Brenda McCrackin.

James was born in Newport News, Virginia and grew up in the small town of Rescue, Virginia, Shortly after graduating from high school, he met and married the love of his life and they remained together until his passing. James started his career at the Newport News Ship Building Apprentice School, where he graduated at the top of his class in ship building pipe fit design. James then went on to become a startup engineer in the nuclear power industry that led James to a venturous career that took him and family to many places including Culpepper, VA, Boston Spa, NY, Jacksonville, FL, Zagreb, Yugoslavia, Pittsburg, PA,
Jefferson City, MO, and Augusta, GA.

James had many hobbies in his personal life but preferred to spend most of his time with his family camping at the beach. Myrtle Beach, SC was the spot for many cherished family memories. The most special trip to Myrtle beach was to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary with his beautiful and loving wife. He was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and their families. This is what he cherished the most, family time.

James and Barbara were members of Victory Baptist Church, North Augusta, Ga. James was a man of God and never missed an opportunity to share his faith with a friend or stranger. He was at peace in passing knowing he was going to heaven.
There are no words that can express how much we will miss this great man, husband, father, and grandpa. We will forever miss you and love you!

A memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Victory Baptist Church.
