James Feindel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Funeral Home on Dec. 20, 2025.
James H. Feindel of Hooksett, NH, passed away on December 17, 2025 at the Elliott Hospital in Manchester, NH.

James, or Jim as he was known to many, was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of Col. William B. Feindel Jr. and Thelma (Sederquest) Feindel. James spent many of his early years in Lynnfield and Wakefield, Mass.

In the 1950's James lived in Germany with his parents while his father was serving in the U.S. Army. He graduated in 1958 from the Heidelberg American High School.

Upon returning to the U.S. James attended Nichols College, graduating with a Business degree. He then worked for A. W. Chesterton Company for many years, retiring as a supply chain manager in 2008.

James always had an interest in the navy and as a young man spent some time in the U.S. Naval Reserves. In his later years he joined the 5th NH Volunteers Infantry Co. A, a Civil War era living history association, and participated in drills and encampments, as well as speaking about the history of this time to school groups and other organizations. More recently he had joined The Kearsarge Afterguard, an organization dedicated to portraying the enlisted Union sailor, and participated in many of its events, as well.

In the last couple of years James was working on a large layout in his basement which depicted Fort Abraham Lincoln in North Dakota. This layout was complete with many buildings and figurines, as well as the surrounding countryside. James spent many hours sitting at his dining room table, painting his latest group of soldiers or animals, an activity he truly enjoyed.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother William B. Feindel III. His survivors include William B. Feindel IV and his wife Tina of Springfield, VT and his niece Kimberly Feindel of Hooksett, NH.

Funeral services will be private and burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, Mass.

My memory of Jim Feindel is he will be remembered as a gentleman among us. Softly spoken, he was a living historian of dedicated study. Generous was his heart always ready to share information and impart his knowledge to those ready and willing to learn. With Angels in his heavenly surroundings, eternal life is his gift from God.
