James “Jim” Ferretti, of Randolph, formerly of Weymouth, died peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 67.
Jim was born in Boston on September 19, 1958, and was the son of the late Leonard and Rita (Woods) Ferretti. Jim was raised in Jamaica Plain for the first years of his life, before his parents moved their family to Weymouth. He attended local Weymouth schools and graduated from Weymouth High School.
After graduating from high school, Jim began a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a letter carrier for 30 years before his retirement. Never one to sit still for long, he went on to work for many years as a gas station attendant in Halifax, where he became a friendly face to countless people in the community.
Jim was a true people person. He was outgoing, kind, and genuinely interested in everyone he met. He made friends everywhere he went and had a special gift for making others feel seen and valued.
A man of many passions, Jim loved playing chess, training in martial arts, and proudly earned his 5th degree black belt. He was also an accomplished runner, completing seven Boston Marathons.
Throughout his life, Jim devoted time to volunteer work, always eager to lend a hand or offer support to those in need. He cherished good food, good company, and good conversation.
Jim had a deep love of music and could often be found humming a tune, no matter where he was. He enjoyed taking his children to art shows and concerts, sharing with them his appreciation for creativity and life’s simple joys. He was close with his mother, and his warmth, expressiveness, and positivity were constants in his life.
Above all, Jim was a genuine man who appreciated the good things in life, sought out adventure, and brought light to everyone who knew him. He was one of a kind, and his memory will be treasured by all whose lives he touched.
Jim was the devoted father of Susan E. Ferretti of Randolph, Steven J. Ferretti of Spring Hill, Florida, and In Hwa Ferretti of Connecticut. He was the loving grandfather of Noah and Lucas Ferretti, both of Spring Hill, Florida. Jim was the dear brother of Dotti Gibson and her husband Brian of Millis, Kathy Sheedy and her husband David of East Bridgewater, Mary Ellen Chalmers of Rockland, the late Leonard Ferretti, the late Robert Ferretti, and the late Margaret Dill. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
