James Ora Fleming, a man of profound faith and boundless love, departed from this world on January 25, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio on December 31, 1944, to parents Ora D. and Azalee Fleming, James's journey came full circle as he passed away in the same city that he always called home.
James, affectionately known by those close to him as simply 'James,' was a beacon of light and hope to all who knew him. He attended Addison Jr. High School and later graduated from John Hay High School, where he laid the foundations for what would become a life dedicated to service and ministry. His academic achievements were only the beginning of a lifelong commitment to learning and guiding others. He found his calling as an evangelist after attending the American Baptist College, and alongside his beloved wife, Freddie L. Fleming, he became an integral part of the Nursing Home Ministry. Together, they brought comfort and spiritual solace to many, touching lives with their compassion and unwavering dedication to the well-being of others.
James's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a loving husband to Freddie and a guiding force to his children-Charles, Pamela, Vincent, Jeanette, James, Jason, who is married to Terrell, and James Ora, who is married to Kim, and Sherrae, who is joined in matrimony to Louis. He was a brother who will be fondly remembered by his surviving siblings, Kahlila, Vivian, Martha, Yusuf, who is married to Lana, and Sayyed. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory to a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He now joins his late siblings Rafiah, LaVerne, and Latif in eternal rest.
An avid wrestling fan, James found joy in the excitement of the sport. He was also known for his daily walks, which were as much a spiritual practice as they were physical exercise. In these simple pleasures, he found the strength and serenity to continue his life's work of spreading love and kindness.
James will be remembered as a loving, faith-filled, and selfless man. His actions always spoke louder than words. His favorite bible verse was Psalm 23. James embodied this teaching, his life a testament to the power of living one's beliefs.
His legacy is one of love, faith, and selflessness-a legacy that will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Though his physical presence is no longer among us, the warmth of his spirit will forever be felt in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched.
James Ora Fleming's life was a journey of devotion, not only to his family and faith but to the countless individuals who were fortunate enough to have crossed his path. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we do so with the knowledge that his impact on the world is indelible, and his memory will continue to be a source of comfort and strength for all who knew him.
We celebrate James's life and the many blessings he shared with us. His story does not end here, for he leaves a vibrant tapestry of love and service that will be cherished and upheld by generations to come. Rest in peace, James Ora Fleming, and may your soul find the eternal joy and peace you so richly deserve.
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement"
- Hebrews 9:2

Mr. Fleming was just so kind and loving. He was always praying for me no matter what. I just recently shared with a friend his tireless prayers for me. I´m going to miss him but I know I´ll see him again. He leaves such a legacy of bold faith and the constant pursuit of Christ.

My condolences to the family for I know they loved him dearly just as I did.

In Christ,

Sis Val Smart
