James Ivy Foreman, affectionately known as “Pops,” passed away on November 1, 2025, in Sour Lake, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on May 10, 1946, in Orangefield, Texas, James lived a life characterized by kindness and generosity, traits that endeared him to all who had the fortune of crossing his path.
Throughout his career as a Dirt Construction Truck Driver, James became a familiar sight in the little town of Sour Lake, who will miss him dearly, driving his lil red dump truck-Go Anywhere. His signature phrase, "Later!" echoed through the hearts of those who knew him, a reminder of his view of life that celebrated connections over goodbyes. Alongside his sister Wanda, he often shared heartfelt exchanges, proclaiming their love with the promise of reconnection: "I love you, no goodbyes, just later we will see one another again."
James was a man whose kindness knew no bounds. He spent his life giving to others, often going without so that he could help someone in need. His generous heart touched the lives of strangers and friends alike, earning him countless admirers who regarded him as one of the kindest souls they would ever meet. Whether it was through his stories, laughter, or simple acts of kindness, James made a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
An admirable veteran who served in the Army, James also nurtured a deep connection with the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, hobbies that allowed him to bond with family and friends while appreciating the tranquility of nature.
James leaves behind his devoted sister, Wanda Wilson, his “daughter” not blood but a chosen, Crystal Henderson, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with extended family members and friends who will forever cherish the moments shared with him. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leve Foreman, and Lucille Hoffpauir Foreman; his wife, Mary Foreman; and his siblings, Robert Lee May, and Joyce Faye Speck, who have all passed before him.
