James Foster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel on Mar. 3, 2026.
James Delaine "Jim" Foster Jr., 64, passed away peacefully at his home on February 28, 2026. A devoted father, proud grandfather, loving brother and uncle, and loyal friend, Jim lived a life full of humor, hard work, and heart.

Jim was born on February 11, 1962, in Alma, the son of James D. Foster Sr. and Janet Marie Ostrander. He was honored to carry his father's name. He dedicated more than two decades of his life to serving his country. A 21 year veteran of the National Guard and a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he carried his service with pride and unwavering commitment. Those who served beside him knew him as dependable, brave, and always ready with a joke to ease the hardest moments. Jim also carried with him an unwavering faith in the Lord.

Outside of his service, Jim embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He was known to many as a IBEW union brother, Master Electrician, Wheelie Champion, a storyteller, and someone who could make anyone laugh. He loved to dream big, to wander into the woods to hunt, to spend peaceful days camping, and-more than anything-to share his passions with the people he loved. His grandchildren especially knew the joy of his patience and excitement as he taught them how to drive tractors, explore the outdoors, and appreciate the gift of life.

Jim's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children James (Patricia) Foster, Bekah (Justin) Allen, Jacob (Amber) Foster, and Emily (Bruce) Cheeseburo. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Dakota Allen, Kylie Foster, Blake Foster, Aiden Allen, Meadow Foster, Harper Allen, Hazel Foster, Reagan Cheeseburo, Riley Cheeseburo, and one more grandchild lovingly expected soon. Also his siblings Juanita Foster, Julie (Rodney) Miller, Jill (Mark) Watters, Joe Levy, Joann (Jeff) Snyder and many nieces and nephews.

To his family, Jim was a protector, a teacher, a jokester, and a hero. To his friends, he was the one whose laughter could brighten any day. To all who knew him, he was unforgettable.

Jim's story lives on in the memories he created, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12 pm at Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge. Interment will follow with military honors in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
