Mr. James Herman Franklin, Sr., age 89, entered into eternal rest on Monday November 10, 2025. Herman was the husband of 50 years to the late Nellie Hall Franklin and the son of Ray L. and Helen Widener Franklin.
Herman retired from the United States Air Force with 25 years as a Technical Sergeant. He also retired from Graniteville Company / Avondale Mills after 23 years as an electrician.
In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by his granddaughter Madison Leigh Franklin; brother and sister-in-law, Ray R. (Doris) Franklin; and brother-in-law, Harry Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Franklin (David) Lott of Vaucluse, SC; son, James "Jamie" H., Jr. (Shannon) Franklin of North Augusta, SC; two wonderful grandchildren, Morgan Franklin (Michael) Weyer, Ryan James Franklin; sister, Joyce Franklin Johnson of Macclenny, Florida. He had many cousins, nephews, nieces and wonderful friends.
Herman was born in Vaucluse, SC and was a life long resident of Aiken County, with the exception of the time he served in the military. He was a member of the Vaucluse Methodist Church where he was very active and served on many different committees. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed by the people whose lives he touched and will live on in our hearts.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday November 14, 2025 at 11am in the Chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Phillips and Brother Tim Harley officiating. The interment with Military Honors accorded will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening November 13, 2025 from 6-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s's Children's Research Hospital at PO Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
