Bellingham, Washington - James Edwin Fransen passed away peacefully at his home in Bellingham, WA on January 11, 2024. James was born to Edwin and Dorothy Fransen on April 5, 1946 in Plentywood, MT.

James was loved by so many and had a loving fairy tale relationship with his wife Jan for 36 years, who passed away in 2021. James loved his family and had many passions in life. He was a creative craftsman and owned and operated furniture upholstery businesses throughout his career and was always known as "the best in town". He also enjoyed other passions including music and writing. James loved playing the guitar, harmonica, and piano, and regularly shared his joy of music with those around him. He was also known as a great storyteller, and was a passionate writer of short stories that he often shared with family and friends.

James is survived by his son James (Erica) Fransen II, daughter Katie Fransen and her son, Sequoia, brother Dennis (Cheryl) Fransen and their sons Shawn; Chad (Lynette) and their children, Halle, Lucas and Zachary; and Justin (Fran) and their daughters, Alyssa and Kaylee, sister Debbie Goodheart and her daughter, Stephanie (Adam) and their sons, Ethan and Preston, stepson Michael Vetromile and his daughter, Abby, brothers in law Alan (Bet) Oliver, Ross Oliver, Ken Oliver, sister in law Lori Saker, and many others who loved him dearly.

The service will be held on July 27, 2024 (11:00 a.m. MST) at St. John's Lutheran Church in Westby, MT.
