James George Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 27, 2026.
James Victor "Vic" George, born on December 13, 1954, in Wheeling, West Virginia, peacefully passed away at home on March 26, 2026, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 71. Fondly known as Vic to his family and friends, he was a man of many talents and interests, as well as a beloved husband, uncle, and friend.

James was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he diligently served as a mailman. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a skilled welder. His love for craftsmanship extended beyond his career, as he found joy in working with his hands, often immersing himself in construction and remodeling projects.

His adventurous spirit thrived on taking cruises, and his sharp mind found a worthy opponent in the game of chess. He had a competitive flair, especially when playing pool, and his passion for rock music led him to numerous concerts over the years. James was also known for his dedication to fitness, particularly weightlifting.

James is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Robert and Mary Lou George, as well as his brothers, Robert George Jr. and Ronald George.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Leah Gross-George, who was his steadfast companion. His loving family includes his sister-in-law, Pam George; nephew, Bobby George, and his wife Kristen; great-niece and great-nephew Callie and Brayden George; and niece Ashley George, whom he dearly cherished. James is also survived by his best friends, Bill Gable and Bonnie Mihlbauer, who was by his bedside in his final moments. His beloved dogs, Mason and Scooter, were constant sources of joy in his life.

A celebration of James's life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2–5 PM at Faith Fellowship Church, 3450 Belmont Street, Bellaire, Ohio, with Pastor Bill Marinelli. The family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to The Faith Fellowship Church in Bellaire, Ohio, in his memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Valley Hospice staff for the compassionate care they provided. James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of kindness, strength, and passion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
