James Lee Gilford, Jr, a longtime resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life on March 27, 2025 in Lexington, OK at the age of 61. James was born on August 8, 1963 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to James Lee Gilford Sr and Clementine (Simpson) Gilford.
James grew up in the Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Tulsa Public Schools, completing at Tulsa McLain High School. During James adult life he worked at Bama Pies and Furrs Cafeteria where he served as a baker and later in the dish room. James was an accomplished artist with talents that were amazing. He was also a devoted woodworker building doll houses, dog houses and picture frames for friends and family.
James loved his family and he was a good son, brother, and uncle and he will be missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Clementine (Simpson) Gilford; his father, James Lee Gilford, Sr; a sister, Janie Gilford; and by two brothers, Meno Gilford and Jerry Gilford.
He is survived by four brothers, Willie Simpson and wife Mary Mack-Simpson of Shawnee, Ted Gilford and wife Kathy of Tulsa, Jimmy Gilford of Tulsa, and Larnce Gilford of Tulsa; two sisters, Angie Gilford of Tulsa and Elaine Gilford of Arlington, TX; as well as other extended family and many good friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
