I fondly remember working with/for Jim Gimpel at his company. I remember both his passion for programming and programming languages, along with his passion for his conspriacy theories.
He was quite proud of his Snobol book, often stating that he was the first author to use the Towers of Hanoi as an example which has since become common. He also had spot on observations of C, C++ and other programming languages. He was by far the most brilliant programmer I have worked with.
I also remember him regaling us with tales tying Mother Theresa, the illuminati, International Bankers, JFK's assassination and others. It was truly a product of a creative mind. Curiously, it lacked the careful and precise analysis that he applied to programming and programming languages.
I remember Jim, my condolences to his family, he will surely be missed.
