James Glendinning Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pagano Funeral Home on Nov. 5, 2022.
James E. Glendinning IV.
Jim Glendinning was a life-long resident of Claymont who passed away on Nov. 3, 2022. He was born on April 30th,, 1957 to James Edward Glendinning III, and Joyce Taylor Glendinning. He began his career as a Graphic Artist and Printer at Trimark Printing, Sheeran's and Echo Data, before recently retiring from AMS Fulfillment. He was a hard worker, providing for his family. At work and at home he was the Guy that everyone went to for help in solving problems. His artistic and creative abilities were expressed in so many ways: in the unique folk-art pieces he created, his cultivation of Bonsai trees, and his love of music. He was a talented musician, writing songs and playing guitar & bass. He enjoyed playing for family & friends, as well as playing with the June Bugs, a local bluegrass band. Jim loved being a father to Jami – they would spend afternoons playing board games, watching old movies, and playing in their pool. He passed on his love of music to her, which led to many conversations about musicians and Jami "shopping" in Jim's record collection! He was a huge fan of the Beatles, especially John Lennon. As a family, they loved vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, Ithaca, NY and Disney World. Jim also loved spending time with his dad, playing golf and cursing, or rooting for the Eagles! He loved all kinds of animals, from guinea pigs to the wild rabbits, squirrels & chipmunks in the yard and, most especially, the dogs they had over the years. At family gatherings, he was always leading his many nieces and nephews outdoors for a quick game of touch football and enjoyed spending time with them. Many hours were spent playing and singing with family & friends by the firepit In their backyard. Jim would always try and teach Susan the harmony line of the songs but inevitably, she would fall back to the melody line with him! He had a quick-witted & sarcastic sense of humor and enjoyed conversations/debates on politics, Covid & religion. He hated injustice, in any of its forms. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Ashbridge Glendinning; his mother, Joyce Taylor Glendinning; and his father-in-law, Mac Paris. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan Paris Glendinning; his daughter, Jami; His father, James Edward Glendinning III; his mother-in-law, Betty L. Paris; his aunts & uncle, Loretta Ware, Judy & Daniel Barlow; and cousins, Cynthia Catts, Dawn Barlow & Mark Barlow. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
