James’ life began on September 22, 1950, in Newton, Kansas. He was the son of Billy Joe and Wanda Eileen (Murphy) Graham. James was a 1969 graduate of Remington High School and attended Pittsburg State University for drafting. He was employed in construction. James had been a member of the Whitewater Lions Club for several years and enjoyed woodworking. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and watching old Army and western movies on TV. James served his country in the United States Army and served a year in Vietnam. He is survived by his mother Wanda Graham of Whitewater; siblings Steve Graham of Caldwell, ID, Carol (Duane) Stucky of Moundridge, Lynn Graham-Newfer of Whitewater, and Mary (Sheldon) Thompson of Whitewater; several niece and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and sister-in-law Kathleen Graham of Saratoga, New York. James passed away on Friday March 21, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his father Billy Joe, sister Diane Graham, brother Bryan Graham and brother-in-law Mike Newfer. James' family will gather with friends on Saturday March 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Federated Church, Whitewater for his memorial service. Lamb Funeral Home. Whitewater is serving the family.
