In loving memory of James Greve, He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, who peacefully passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 83. Throughout his life, James found joy with his family, he spent 62 loving years with his wife Susan Greve (nee Martin) and their children David (Gina), Sister Maria Christi, O.P., Tony (Deanna), Mark, John (late Liz) and the late Mary Elizabeth Greve. He was a loving and proud grandfather of David Jr, Rachael, Patrick, Jessica (David), Elizabeth (Scott), Mitch, Jake (Emma), Jeff, Jack, Maggie, Joseph, Katherine, Daniel, Caitlin (Wagner), Megan, Anthony, Alex, Adam, James, Colleen, Mary Claire, late Sarah, and Sean. A caring great grandfather of Hailey, Lex, Liv, Isla, Celeste, Evelyn, Lorelei, Miriam, Gio, Sal, Isabella, the late Brett, Capri, Siena and Luca. Dear brother of Tom (Peggy) Greve and Rita Greve, brother-in-law of Irene Greve all of whom he held dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents Eldon and Luella Greve. His siblings Bob (Pat) Greve, Mary (Caroll) Faulkner, Ginny (Don) Wahle, Carol Greve, Bill Greve and Jack Greve.
James began his journey in Middletown, Ohio on October 23, 1940. With a passion for service and love for his country, he dedicated his career to the Cincinnati Fire Department, valiantly serving his community through his courageous work as a firefighter, displaying unmatched bravery and selflessness in the face of danger. He also proudly served in the US Army, as a testament to his unwavering dedication to his country. In addition to his distinguished service, James was known for his skills as a car mechanic and his love for farming and fishing. His passion for life and unwavering dedication to those he loved will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
A visitation to honor and remember James will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Road, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gertrude Church, 6543 Miami Ave., on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
May we remember James Greve as a compassionate, brave soul, who touched the hearts of many with his acts of kindness and unwavering commitment to his community and loved ones. In his memory, let us treasure the moments shared and continue to spread the love and generosity he exemplified throughout his life. May his soul find eternal peace as he embarks on his next journey. Our condolences to Sue and all the Greve Family. His legacy is left behind with terrific children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He lived his Catholic Faith and passed it on with great clarity. Our prayers and love to all family members!
