James Grover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cochran Funeral Home - Hackettstown on Dec. 9, 2025.
James Grover, age 75, died on Saturday, December 6, 2025 surrounded by family after an unexpected stroke. James was born on July 18, 1950 to Warren and Miriam (Emery) Grover. He lived in Hackettstown, NJ most of his life, moving to Great Meadows, NJ, Las Vegas, NV, and most recently Wenonah, NJ.

James served four years in the U.S. Navy and worked at Picatinny Arsenal for many years. He made many lifelong friends at Picatinny as well as meeting the love of his life, Jackie. They married on October 6, 1984. They had one daughter together and were inseparable. They retired in 2003 and were avid travelers and did everything together.

James loved to play games and do puzzles. He also loved to gamble, often going to play the penny slots in the local casino. For several years while living in Las Vegas, James and Jackie went and played bingo almost nightly. He enjoyed playing poker and taught his grand daughter Rylee and his bonus grandson Colin how to play as well. He loved TV and diligently watched Survivor with his grand daughter Skylar. He also loved his pets, especially his Scottie Loki. He loved to cook and bake and was known to his friends as the best cake decorator and cookie baker.

James was a devoted father, husband, son and friend. He was the most amazing grandfather to his two beloved grand daughters. He was always around to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on and had a very soft heart. He made a huge impact on many people.

James is predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqualine, his parents, and his brother Gerald. He is survived by his daughter Jodie and her husband William, his grand-daughters Skylar and Rylee, his brother Jay, his nieces and nephew and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
