Funeral Services for James Gus Hale will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North with Bro. Jackie Strebeck officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Mr. Hale, 85, of Meridian, passed away January 17, 2023, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation in Booneville, MS.

James was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the Meridian Fire Department as a fire fighter for 21 years before retiring, a career that he was so proud of.  He then served as a security guard at Rush Hospital for 12 years. He enjoyed working in his garden, woodworking, coloring and drawing, and fishing. He will be remembered as kind, hardworking man, devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sharon Threatt Hale; children, Beth Castleberry (Tim) of Baldwyn, MS and Michael Hale (Wonda) of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Brittany Tardo (Bryan) of Florence, AL, Carmen Myers (Hasador) of Rienzi, MS, Travis Castleberry (Kelsey) of Tupelo, MS, Sydney Sabo (Chris) of Opelika, AL, Sterling Fields (Cameron) of Madison, MS, Cameron Hale (Tiffany) of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Tanner Hale of Mt. Juliet, TN; great grandchildren, Colby and Hayden Myers, Aiden, Asher, and Alex Fields, Grayson Hale, Mason, Tripp, and Ty Tardo, and Blakely and Vinny Sabo; sisters, Martha Swanner, Gloria Nicholson, Reecie Volts, and Drusilla Hall; brother, Ronald Hale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, E.J. and Ozella Hale; and brothers, Rodney Hale and Jimmy Hale.

Pallbearers will include Cameron Hale, Tanner Hale, Sterling Fields, Travis Castleberry, Bryan Tardo, Hasadore Myers, and Chris Sabo. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to service at the funeral home.
