James "Jim" Hall

August 3, 1949 - December 28, 2025

James "Jim" Hall, 76, of Fannett, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was born on August 3, 1949, in Jasper to Billie Jean McBride and Zack William Hall.

After his childhood in Jasper, Jim met Mary Beth, his wife of over fifty years and moved to Beaumont before settling in Fannett. His thirty-seven-year career was spent working in operations in the utilities department at Mobil Oil Beaumont Refinery until his retirement in 2009. Jim loved traveling and camping in Colorado, the Hall family took a summer vacation to Colorado every year when the kids were growing up. He enjoyed fishing on Toledo Bend and camping at Holly Park, which only got more exciting once the grandkids came along! Poppy was a regular at West End Little League, Kirbyville Little League and Ford Park to cheer on his grandkids baseball games and heckle the umpires. He always had snow cone money and a big hug after every game. He rarely missed one of their games or school programs. His grandkids were his world, and they loved their weekends with Grammy and Poppy. Jim was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and will be immensely missed by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Hall; children, Chris Hall and his wife, Shonda, and Kim Smith and her husband, Shannon; grandchildren, Savanna and Sawyer Hall, Zach Smith and Max Smith; sister, Teressa Kemp.

James is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Westbrook; and brother-in-law, David Broach.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Hall were handled through Broussard's Crematorium under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
