I would like to share my condolences with this wonderful family. James Hanley (Mr. Hanley to me) was my high school History teacher for my Junior and senior year. I also have had the pleasure to be high school best friends with his son, Josh Hanley whom I still am in touch with today. Mr. Hanley was always my favorite teacher and represents most of my memories at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, CA. I will always remember the love Mr. Hanley had for his Mustang, his love for going to see a movie with popcorn and candy and his meticulous punctuality. He told me he would always leave an hour early even if he was only going a short distance so he would never be late. On the last day of Senior exams, he allowed me to stay and extra 30 minutes in his class as I was reviewing my history final at nauseam. Josh Hanley waited outside the classroom for me that day and when the final grades were being put in by Mr. Hanley that evening; Josh could not tell me my grade but he did reassure me that evening that I would be ok. I will never forget this amazing man. I was so blessed to have known him and for the impression he left on my life.
With my deepest love and sympathies,
Kathryn Hilz (Rustigian)

I just want to share my condolences with the Hanley family. Growing up, they were the neighbors of the Corsair's, and friend of Anson's. We were always hanging out, swimming, running around, watching movies as kids. Richard Street was like home. Jim was always a very nice, kind and gentle man. He built a great family and legacy. Rest in peace!

Josh and Steven, I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers and sympathies to you both. He was clearly such an amazing man who left his mark. I know he's above watching over you now. Love to you both.

Mr. Hanley was one of my favorite and memorable teachers at WHS. My love of American history is because of him. He had an incredible way of reaching his students and engaging them to want learn. May God rest his soul.

We shared many years together teaching at WHS and retired at the same time. I also have Parkinson“s now and what a challenge this disease brings. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
