Dear Family, I'm saddened to hear of James making his transition. We lost touch over the years, but we remained great friends. I met James in 1971 as a freshman at Sumner High School in St. Louis. We became best friends and shared many life experiences in art, tennis, bicycling... and more. James was an inspiration for me to become an artist. We used to compete to see who could do the best drawings, of course, he would win with his awe-inspiring fine graphite drawings. We were roommates in KC and I'll always remember how cool and smooth he was, he had style and class. He loved great music and was the life of the party. I will miss my friend and will cherish our youthful times together.
