James "Jim" Heiser, a beloved and cherished man, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2023, in North Carolina. Born on November 6, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Jim led a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and memorable moments. He will always be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and his passion for cooking.
Jim was known as a very good family man who worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones. He had a special talent for whipping up delicious dishes in the kitchen, and he took great pride in being the Thanksgiving chef year after year. His culinary skills brought joy and warmth to every family gathering, creating unforgettable memories that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to share those moments with him.
Prior to his untimely passing, Jim served in the United States Air Force for a brief period. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and honor that he carried with him throughout his life. Jim's commitment to serving his country was a testament to his strong character and selflessness.
In addition to being survived by countless friends whose lives he touched along the way, Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Joan. They shared many years of laughter, support, and companionship that will forever be treasured. He also had two step-sons: Ed McAfee (Mary), and Tom McAfee. Each of them holds fond memories of their time spent with Jim and will continue to carry his legacy forward.
Jim was also a proud father to two daughters: Stacy Smith and Amy Heiser. His love for them knew no bounds, and he took immense joy in being their father. The bond between Jim and his daughters remains unbreakable even after his passing. Jim also become a proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren and one lucky great-grandchild.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents Sylvester and Helen Heiser, his sister Judy Sandman, and his step step-son, Greg McAfee.
Services to honor and celebrate Jim's life will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46222 on October 27, 2023 at 1 p.m. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, with service to follow. Jim's final resting place will be at Floral Park Cemetery.
Jim will be remembered as a devoted family man who left an incredible mark on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, hard work, and culinary prowess will continue to inspire future generations. As we bid farewell to Jim, let us reflect on the joy he brought into our lives and carry his spirit forward in all our endeavors.
