James Hemeon Obituary

James F. Hemeon, 92, of Manchester, NH died on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his residence in Manchester, NH.

Mr. Hemeon was born on April 26, 1933, in Braintree, MA, the son of the late John H. and Rita (Cleary) Hemeon.

He was born the eight of ten siblings and was raised in Braintree, MA. Mr. Hemeon graduated from Braintree High School in 1951. He later joined the US Army and enjoyed it very much that he remained with them for 20 years.

Mr. Hemeon met and married his first wife, Irmengard, while on assignment in Germany (Bad Aibling). After further assignments in the United States, Okinawa and Germany, he retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW2)

He moved to Merrimack, NH, October 1971 with family and stayed for 32 years.

First job out of the military was with Barreto Granite, Milford, NH. Shortly after which he was hired by General Electric, in Merrimack, NH where he remained for 11 1/2 years. Later he worked for Digital Equipment Corp for 6 1/2 years, retiring in 1990. Later he accepted a position with Chemfab (St. Gobain) during which time he met and married his second wife, Rose. His combined family included; 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

He lived a great life and left with this; "Neither fear the future; Nor regret the past - Live life to it fullest!"

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Sweeney Post #2, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8641, Knights of Columbus, Council No. 5260, Military Officers Association and the National Rifle Association.

Members of his family include; a son, James J. Hemeon, of Nashua, NH; a daughter, Diane E. Crespo, of Exeter, NH; his brother in law, John Moore, of Goffstown, NH; a brother, Melvin Hemeon, of Quincy, MA; a stepdaughter, Angela Heenan and her husband, Eric of Londonderry, NH; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Moore and his brother, Ronald Hemeon

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be private.

If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Pease Air National Guard Base at 603-430-2636 or [email protected]. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this.
