James Lloyd "Jimmy" Hill Jr.

On January 18, 2026, proud marine, husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called to the highest command. James Lloyd Hill, Jr. (Jimmy) passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with Parkinson's.

A graduate of Rule High School class of 1965, Jim retired from the Post Office after 42 years, and not being one to sit still, later worked for Superior Van and then Medic.

He loved his classic cars and would spend hours in his garage, fine tuning until something else went wrong because he couldn't leave it alone. He loved a good poker game, a good prank, and a good joke.

His determination and resolve in fighting Parkinson's never wavered and beside him was his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 56 years, Blondie.

Gone before him are his parents, James Hill, Sr. & Verdia Hill and brother, Ronnie Hill. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Beth Turner; son, Michael Hill; son-in-law, Nick Turner; and daughter-in-law, Heather Hill. Grandchildren: Hunter Hill (wife Ashley), Eric McDowell, Dalton Turner, Kimberly Sturdivant and Jonathan Sturdivant. Precious great-granddaughters, Nova and Hailey; brothers, Mike Hill (wife Belva) and Terry Hill; and sister, Jan Luttrell (husband Tony).

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Rose Funeral and Cremation - Mann Heritage Chapel. A service will follow at 6:00pm. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Lyon's View Pike where James will receive Military Honors.
