James Michael Hines, affectionately known as Jim, passed away on July 27, 2025, at the Mason Health Care Center in Mason, Ohio. He was born on March 17, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he began a journey filled with family, friendship, and countless cherished memories.
Jim was a dedicated family man who is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Hines, who stood by his side through every chapter of his life. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Betty Hines, and his loving sisters: Sue (Ed) Shields, Barb (Russ) Rudolph, Nancy (Paul) Reinhardt, and Connie (Doug) Cole. In addition to his immediate family, Jim leaves behind a warm circle of relatives that includes his in-laws, Diane (Jon) Sheehan, and Tom (Teresa) Young, along with many nieces and nephews whose lives he touched with his kindness and humor.
Jim's father, James W. Hines, predeceased him, leaving behind a legacy of values and love that Jim carried with him throughout his life.
Jim was a man of many interests; he had a passion for golf and bowling, cards with his buddies and enjoying the thrill of competition and camaraderie these sports provided. He cherished moments spent traveling with family, especially to the beach and ocean, where he found solace and joy. Throughout his life, Jim was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, sharing his enthusiasm for the game with family and friends. In the quieter moments, he took pleasure in tasting different bourbons, always eager to learn and explore more about this fine spirit.
A visitation will be held on August 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, located at 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040, with a funeral service following beginning at 5:30 PM at the same location. After the service there will be a small reception at the funeral home in the Mueller Family Center.
Jim's warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, as they continue to celebrate the extraordinary life he led.
In honor of Jim’s memory, memorial contributions can be directed to the American Cancer Society.
