On the evening of February 18, 2022, we lost and are mourning the passing of a true southern gentleman, a great man. James (Jim) Roger Hogan, 75, was the middle child born to Reaves (Red) Elwood Hogan and Gloria Gail Morgan (Hogan) Register, both deceased, and to the man who raised Jim, his stepdad, Pete Register, who treated Jim and his brothers like they were his own children; also deceased. Jim's two brothers predeceased him. Gloria and Pete are together, buried next to each other, in Santa Rosa, California, and Jim's birth father, Reaves, is buried in Springfield, Ohio. Jim was born on his grandmother's bed, in Blue Ridge, Virginia, on October30. 1946, and was taken to the nearest hospital, in Roanoke, Virginia, only minutes old.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sandy) Lequieu, of Idaho, his daughter, Mary Rose Burns, son-in-law, Robert Burns, granddaughter Mariah Thibodeau, her husband, Matthew Thibodeau, and Jim's grandson, Mario Patereau, all of Northern California. Also survived, are Jim's in laws, Louise McCullouch, Patricia (Patti) Stone, Austin Stone and Jordan Stone, all of Cranbrook, B.C., and Jim McCulloch, of Prince George, B.C. missing Jim dearly are his special sisters, his caregiver and "Big Sis" Rikki Wright, and her family, and Jim's "Little Sis," Jennifer Stolley.
Jim will be missed by the special family of Auburn Crest Hospice who took great care of him during the last 8+ months of his life and by the caring staff of advanced Care Northwest who graced us with Rikki Wright, our friend and Jim's caregiver, who gave her all to keep him comfortable and in good spirits. Many thanks go to Dr. Brenden Mielke, nephrologist, who assisted Jim with much compassion in the earlier days of Jim's chronic kidney disease. June 2021, Jim was given only 6 months to live be he surpassed that timeline by another 2+ months, giving his family a little extra time to spend with him.
Respecting Jim's final wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Bridgeway Assembly of God Church, at 66027 Highway (U.S.) 2, Bonners Ferry on Saturday, April 2nd, at 2:00 pm. There will be a guestbook to sign, assisted by the Funeral Director of Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, Chad Workman. Many thanks go out to him for all his help during this sad time. The host for the Celebration of Life, is Ozzie Johnson, who will oversee the photograph history slideshow with music complementing Jim's journey through life. Family and friends will have an opportunity to say a few words.
Immediate family and friends will be going for early evening light refreshments after services. All are welcome to join. Please meet up directly after services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through the Gofundme website, established by Rikki Wright to assist Jim's family in paying for funeral expenses. Rikki can be contacted through Facebook or in person.
