I worked with Jim, as an Electrical Apprentice, at X-10 during 1966-1970! He was a great guy to be around and always had a great attitude! The world has lost a good man! God Bless all!

A spinner of Tennessee tales, tall and otherwise. An encyclopedia of country witticisms. A ribald sense of backwoods humor. These were all aspects of uncle James, deeply enriching those who were privileged to know him. Years ago my mother, my wife and I spent a magical afternoon touring Watts Bar Lake with James at the boat helm. He worked the Evinrude outboard like it was an extension of his own soul as he guided his boat in and out of the small inlets, all the while relaying the natural history of that part of Tennessee. Several times he beamed a big ear-to-ear grin and stated "Oh, don't worry, I'm not going to mention the movie Deliverance".

In the coming days we have but to listen carefully and we will hear James say "Give me your hand, I'll show you the way".
Journey Peacefully uncle James.

"Home is the sailor, home from the sea. And the hunter home from the hill".

Dorothy and Gail we are so sorry to hear of James passing away. I have nothing but fond memories of your family visiting us in Colorado in the late 1960s. In 1978 I brought a buddy with me to see Tennessee and James took a day off work to take us out on the lake. He taught me how to water ski that day and we scouted the shore for muscadines. In 1984 when Judy and I visited, James proclaimed that Wednesdays were "eat hotdog and sleep nekked night". To this day some 40 years later if we haven't decided on dinner we both yell out his famous line. Looking back I can say two things, I wish I had spent more time with him and he was one of the most instantly likeable people I have ever met.
RIP James
