James Michael "Mike" Hoover

James Michael 'Mike' Hoover, 71, husband of Donna Estepp Hoover, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2024. Born in Richmond, Kentucky on July 5, 1953. He was the son of the late Mendol and Juanita Riddell Hoover. Additional survivors include two sons, Chris (Haley) Hamm and Michael (Jamie) Hamm; three grandchildren, Everly, Grayson and Griffin Hamm; two brothers Mendol Russell 'Rusty' (Evangeline) Hoover and Rev. Harry Cleveland (Linda/Deceased) Hoover; father-in-law/mother-in-law (Donald and Bonnie Estepp) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Not forgetting his goofy little dog, Roscoe. Mike was the Minister of Music at North View Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky and grew up in the Dayton, Ohio area where he attended the First Baptist Church of Kettering, Ohio. Mike was a sweet, loving husband and excellent father and Pa. He loved and lived life in high gear. He had a huge impact on everyone he knew. Mike was a presence, and everyone knew when he was in the room. He loved helping, mentoring, teaching and being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Mike loved ministering to everyone, whether you wanted him to or not,. He loved the Lord with all his heart, which poured over into his everyday life. Someone once said that Mike is a person that always lived with one foot on earth and one foot in heaven. He loved his family and friends deeply and unconditionally, but his first love was Jesus Christ and looked forward to his first day in heaven. He is most likely not only singing in the heavenly choir but knowing Mike is LEADING the heavenly choir. We will miss Mike forever, and there is now a permanent hole in our hearts and lives, but we know he is no longer sick or in pain.
Services will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday July 29, 2024, at North View Baptist Church, by Rev. Terry Murphy. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6pm Sunday at North View Baptist Church.
