James Ronald Horne

Mr. James Ronald Horne, age 80, of LaGrange, passed away on November 22, 2025. Mr. Horne was born on February 24, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama, to the late Johnie Winford Horne and Lucile Bailey Horne.

Mr. Horne earned a Bachelor's Degree in Textile Chemical Engineering from Auburn University. Upon graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired after a long and fulfilling career with Milliken and Company.

Mr. Horne was a man of many passions. He loved working outside, attending Auburn football games, working with computers, and-above all-spoiling his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Weldon Horne, and his sister, Rhonda Horne Cook.

He is survived by his children, David James Whaley (Whitney) and Elizabeth Horne "Beth" Miree (Chris); grandchildren, Christian James Whaley (Alyssa), Madelyn Grace Whaley, Grayson Andrew Whaley, Lucille Leigh Miree, and Cooper Estes Miree; great-grandchildren, Abbie Claire Whaley and Colter John Whaley; daughter-in-law, Kim Hoff Whaley; brothers-in-law, Eldridge Jewell Cook, Jr. and Nim Jerome Weldon (Cindy); along with extended family and many friends who will cherish his memory.

Services for Mr. Horne will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel, with Pastor Matt Morvay officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00–3:00 PM.
