It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Crockett Hunt, who went to be with the Lord in the early morning of July 14th.

Jim was born on February 7, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be remembered for his kindness, gift of gab, dedication to his family, sense of humor and unwavering love for those around him. His selflessness and gentle spirit made him a source of strength and comfort for family and friends.

He was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member at the Hills for over 40 years, and currently an active member at the Kerens Church of Christ. He exemplified his faith through how he treated others, whether it was a simple kind word or a thoughtful gesture. He consistently put the needs of others before his own, leaving a lasting impact on anyone fortunate enough to have crossed his path. Above all, he cherished time spent with his loved ones and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jim joined the US Navy after High School. After serving, he received his degree from Dallas Baptist University. He retired from Bell Helicopter after over 35 years. He loved animals, including a history of racing pigeons, which he initially enjoyed with his father and brothers. He was an active member of the Cedar Creek Lofts Racing Pigeon Club. He enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of the family ranch.

He is survived by Peggy Hunt, his loving wife of 50 years; his children, Gina Todd, Jill Russell and her husband Wayne, Brandon Hunt and his wife Emily; his seven grandchildren, Brittinie Dishneau and her husband Eric, Kristen Andrews, Taylor Smith and her husband Blake, Kennedy Russell, McKinley, Zoey and Caleb Hunt; his seven great-grandchildren, Rylan, Kaylan and Carter Dishneau, Lena and Amelia Haworth, Link Andrews and Colson Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents L.B. and Virgina Hunt, his brothers Bill Hunt and his wife Norma, and John Hunt and his nephew David Hunt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19th, with Visitation beginning at 2:00 pm in the Groesbeck Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm in the Chapel. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories.
