James "J.P." Potts, 62, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at a local hospital.
J.P. was a native and longtime resident of Clarksville, Tennessee. He moved his family to Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana thirty years ago to further his career as the manager of Rent-A Center. He also worked as a merchandising and marketing specialist prior to his retirement.
J.P. was extremely proud of his family. He was designated photographer for all the family events, as evidenced by his absence in many of the photos. In addition to his photography skills, he was noted for his love of cooking in the kitchen. From the fluffiest Scrambled Eggs to the best Gumbo, J.P. was quite accomplished as a chef. He will be most remembered for his loving heart and kindness towards others. He was an active member of Glad Tidings Church, where he volunteered in the Food Pantry Ministry as well as with the Youth Ministry.
Preceding J.P. in death are his parents, Davis Lee and Zelma Jean Clark Potts; brothers, Steve Potts and Phillip Wayne Potts, and nephew, John Ross.
