Jim was known as a hard-working man, that was dedicated to his family. He worked in excavation, running a crane for 39 years. Jim also was a farmer and flew airplanes. He enjoyed supporting his sons in all their endeavors over the years.
Surviving Jim are his wife of 66 years, Marilynn; sons Mark (Michelle) Jackson, of Albion, Indiana, Mike Jackson of Dorr, Michigan, and sister Sandy Flack, of Kendallville, Indiana; grandchildren Andrea, Anna, Alivia, Elli, Owen, Justin, and Lynx; and great-grandchildren Adleigh, Maely, Garrett, Wyatt, and Reese.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents Andy and Ruby, and his brother Lee Jackson.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion. Pastor Bret Frymier will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 12:00pm, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the funeral home.
Donations in memory of Jim may be made to The American Cancer Society, or to The American Heart Association.
