James E. “Jim” Adams, 73, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born in Parke County, IN, on September 7, 1951, to James Leslie Adams and Clara Wynetta Riley Adams.
Jim was a maintenance supervisor for Columbia House for 37 years and later retired from Rolls Royce in Indianapolis. Jim was currently working at the Vigo County Public Library. Jim enjoyed hanging out by the pool, playing golf, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Jim and his wife, Valerie, never missed a weekend date night together.
Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years Valerie Swaim Adams, and four children; Angie Adams, Jill Waters (Larry), Kari Racey (Aaron), and Killian Adams (Allison). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Anthony Adams, Evan Adams, Elijah Adams, Shelby Pair (George), Morgan Parker, Adam Waters, Nathan Lindley, Isaiah Racey, Gabby Racey, Carter Wright, Lillian Hathaway, and Dayton Hathaway, sister-in-law Dee Stedman, as well as five great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents as well as his brother Bill Stedman.
Funeral services will be held in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home, with cremation to follow services.
