James "Jim" Ray Low

James “Jim” Ray Low; age 83 of Greenville, Texas, went home to be with our Lord on February 9th, 2024.

James is preceded in death by his Late Wife, Patsy Ann Low; Grandson, Daniel K. Hogue Jr. (Danny Kyle); Parents, Ray and Blanche Low; Brother, Charles Low; Sister; Rosemary Hastings; Brother In-Law, Willie Fred Hastings; Sister In-Laws Evelyn Allison, and Eleanor Elam and Nephew, Gregory Hastings.

James ‘Jim” is survived by his Wife, Carolyn S. Low; his daughter’s, Darla K. Sickles & (Danny) of Campbell, TX, Twyla Allen & (Randal) of Georgetown, Texas, Kimberly A. Woodruff & (Shaun) of Greenville, TX; Son, John W. George Jr. of Greenville, TX: One Brother, David Low & (Brook) of West Melbourne, FL; Brother In-Laws, Earl H. Elam of Granbury, TX, Jerry W. Elam & (Mira) of Wichita Falls, TX, Thomas R. Elam & (Pat) of Cedar Hill, TX.

Grandson’s, Wes Oliver & (Lauren) of Georgetown, TX, Dustin Oliver of Corpus Christi, TX  Canyon Sickles, Sulphur Springs, TX; Granddaughter’s, Blair Petroni & (Nick), of Houston, TX, Keely Garrett of Greenville, TX, and Laila Garrett of Greenville, TX; Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth ( Ellie) Sickles, Sulphur Springs TX:  Daniel “Trey” K. Hogue III, & Grayson R. Hogue of Benton, AR; Genevieve “Evie” Petroni, and Bastian “Bash” N. Petroni of Houston, TX along with many more Nieces & Nephews.

James “Jim” was born in Humboldt, Kansas; March 10th, 1940. He was the third child of Ray Irvin Low and Blanche Delcin (Willets) Low. He grew up on a farm in Kansas. His family moved to Iowa Park, TX when he was 13. James excelled in school as an honor roll student and became the salutatorian of Iowa Park High School, his senior year, 1958. He also excelled in sports. Football was his favorite sport; he was the captain of the football team “The Iowa Park Hawks” which led him to receive a scholarship to Navarro Junior college. He attended one year.

He married his late wife Patsy “Pat” Ann (Elam) Low, from Wichita Falls, Texas on August 13th, 1960.They enjoyed 42 years together, raising their daughters and building a home! Camping, coaching sports and spending time with family & friends, were some of the highlights of their marriage.

They moved to Dallas, Texas in 1966. He went to work at Texas Instruments, where he built a 46-year career as an “Engineer Technician”. He loved his job, and the group he worked with. He retired in 2012. He also worked over 10 years at Safeway part time. Jim had a strong work ethic he learned from his childhood. In 1978 he moved his family to Greenville, Texas driving back and forth to Dallas daily for work, until he retired.

Pats health started declining shorty after they moved. They spent the later years traveling to new places, camping, and fixing up their home. Jim was right by her side and took care of her until she took her last breath on March 1st, 2001.

In the summer of 2002 Jim met his 2nd wife; Carolyn “Carol” Sue (Daniel) Low. They were married on August 24th, 2002. Carol had two children, a son in law, a granddaughter and one on the way. Jim didn’t hesitate, he took to them as a father would. For the next 21 years he treated them as his own. He’s the only grandpa the girls have ever known.

Jim enjoyed his retirement years with Carol at his side. They enjoyed eating out at places like, AJ’s Catfish, spending time with their family especially the grandchildren, and watching their favorite programs on TV. They were best friends. Over the years they took care of each other, but as Jim’s health started declining, Carol stayed by his side, she took care of him until he took his last breath on February 9th, 2024.

Jim was a man of Faith, devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was known as a kind man, a man of strong commitment, an honorable man. He never met a stranger. He could fix anything, he was the go-to guy for wisdom, and just overall information. He loved football, He was a true Dallas Cowboys fan. He liked the Texas Longhorn, the Texas Rangers and other teams too.

Jim will be greatly missed by all, he will stay close to our hearts, and we will forever cherish the memories made! Rest in peace “Dad”!

Jim's memorial will be held March 23rd, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Bull Creek Cowboy Church of Lone Oak 9591 W. US Hwy 69 Point, TX in Lone Oak, Texas.
