James "Jim" Allen Snyder, a dedicated educator and passionate golfer, left this world on August 21, 2024, at the age of 80.

Born on July 11, 1944, Jim was a proud son of the American Legion, a member of The Harmony, and an esteemed member of the PGA of America. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1962, he pursued his higher education, earning his master's degree in mathematics from Purdue University, following an undergraduate program at Indiana State University.

Jim began his career as a math teacher in 1966 at Thornridge, later continuing his inspiring journey at Thornwood High School, where he was also the Head Golf Coach. He dedicated over three decades at Thornwood to shaping young minds with his passion for mathematics and golf. Even after retiring from teaching, he continued to share his love for golf as a PGA Golf Teaching Professional, embracing his passion for the sport.

He found joy in the simple pleasures in life – from his love for golf to his devotion to crossword puzzles, KenKen puzzles, and reading. He loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them any chance he had.

Survivors of Jim include his wife, Judith Snyder; his daughter, Stacy Snyder; Stacy's daughter and Jim's granddaughter, Lilly Lopez; his stepchildren, Chrysa Mineo, and Mark Mineo; his step-grandchildren, Matthew Stephenson, Olive Stephenson, Joseph Deniz Mineo, and David Demir Mineo; his siblings, Don Snyder, Gary Snyder, and Barbara (Snyder) Post; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shurley and Mary (Hewit) Snyder; and siblings, Ralph Snyder, Robert Snyder, Ted Snyder, Steve Snyder, and Shirley Snyder.

A visitation for Jim will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 1:00-2:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN 47591. Following the conclusion of visitation, a memorial service will begin promptly at 2:00pm with Pastor Dale Biehl officiating.

Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Jim and his family.
