James “Jim” Wooldridge, 86, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully June 17th, 2024. He was born in Plainfield, Indiana August 13th, 1937. Jim grew up in Indiana and received his diploma from Warren Central High School.
Amidst the Korean War, Jim proudly joined the United States Army. He served our country from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1957.
Upon returning home from the military, Jim met the love of his life, Linda. They married on October 21, 1961, in Celina, Tennessee, and shared 58 wonderful years together. Linda passed away in 2019. A very hard worker, Jim was a Tool and Die maker for Navistar (formerly International Harvester) for many years before retiring. Jim was a strong, loving family man. He took his role as a husband, father, and grandfather very seriously and cherished time with his family. He and Linda were often hosting family reunions and get-togethers at their home, and he was a great host with the gift of gab. Jim enjoyed gardening, bird watching and working outdoors with Linda. They shared a passion for nature’s beauty and planted hundreds of trees, bushes and flowers over the years. It wasn’t unusual to find Jim with a shovel in his hands working on his next project. Jim enjoyed talking about his experiences in the military. He had a fondness for planes, specifically the Lockheed P-38 Lightning. In their later years, Jim and Linda enjoyed traveling. They saw countless cities, states and countries, and spent their winters in Florida for several years.
Jim is survived by his son, Jeffrey Coleman (Ruth Ann) Wooldridge; daughters, Lisa Lynn (Robert) Darnell; Cynthia Ann Wooldridge; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Wallace; Coleman Wooldridge; Jake Wooldridge; Emily Darnell; Josie Wilson; Zach Wilson; 1 great-granddaughter, Mavis Wilson; and brother Jack Wooldridge.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents; and brothers, Donald Wooldridge; Kenneth Wooldridge; Richard Wooldridge; and sister, Patricia (Wooldridge)Robinson.
Jim, along with his wife Linda’s memorial visitation will be Saturday, June 29th at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 11-1pm. His and Linda’s memorial service will begin at 1pm. They will be laid to rest together at Washington Park East Cemetery.
