James “Jimmy” Edgar Edwards, 76, of Chesnee, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Jimmy dedicated many years of his life working for the Spartanburg County Tax Assessor’s Office. He was a 1967 graduate of Spartanburg High School. Jimmy was a faithful member of Green Point Baptist Church. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was caring for his yard, tending to the outdoors, or just spending time with family. Jimmy will be remembered as a loving husband, a man of faith, and a true friend to many.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years: Margaret Edwards; sister: Dianne Faulkner: a brother: Charles Ray Edwards (Jane); brothers-in-law: Ricky and Rass McCallister; two sisters-in-law: Sundie Lomax and Marsha Lance; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory. Jimmy is predeceased by his parents: Charles Edgar Edwards and Mary Elizabeth Price Edwards Hawkins; his step father; Fred Hawkins; a brother, Danny Hawkins; mother and father in-law: Mack and Margaret McCallister; A brother-in-law; James Faulkner; three sisters-in-law: Georgiana McCallister, Emily McCallister and Sherie Smith; a great nephew: Aaron Joshua McCallister, Rass Lance, and Mitzy.
A memorial service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family will receive friends between 1:00 – 2:00 PM, prior to the service. An inurnment will be held at later date in Whitney Cemetery. Reverend David Lancaster will officiate the service.
Jimmy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
