J
ames Patrich Jingles was born August 4, 1939, in Marengo County, Alabama, to Mr. and Mrs. Esly Jingles (Elnora Nelson). He was the third of nine children.
James received his education at Marengo County Schools; at a young age he worked to help raise and support his siblings. He moved to Indiana as a teenager. He began working at Citizens Gas in 1966 and retired in 1999, after 33 years of employment. He also loved working as a Lot Attendant at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Indy 500 Race and special events.
James professed Christ at an early age and later became a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church and sung with the Male Course; he loved singing with Junior and the Sacred Four, which he did for over 20 years. You could also find him at Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church, because their morning services would start after his home church.
James was united Holy Matrimony to Willie Faye Jones in August of 1977, he was a devoted and loving husband and father to his four sons, and loved spending time with his extended family. He also loved his Western Movies.
James departed this life on Monday, November 4, 2024. James was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Bessie Pickens, Josie Jingles, and Ollie Harris; and one brother, Esly Jingles.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his beloved wife Willie Faye Jingles; four sons, Ben Johnson (Lily), Jerry Johnson (Darice), Mitchell Johnson (Veronica), and Tracy Jingles; two brothers, Willie James and Jimmie Jingles (Teresa); two sisters, Mary Laine and Elnora Jingles; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jones, Mary Steen, Ardessia Harris (Howard), and Mildred Townsend; one brother-in-law A.Z. Jones; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family who loved and will miss him very much.
